Digital transformation solutions company UST Australia has been recognised as one of 2023’s Top Employers APAC by the Top Employers Institute.
Top Employers Institute is dubbed the global authority on recognising excellence in people practices.
Each year, the institute highlights the organisations that have maintained an avid focus on their employees, with a special focus on “accelerating the impact of people strategies to enrich the world of work”.
This year, 2,053 organisations in 121 countries/regions were recognised for their outstanding people practices, including UST Australia, which said its certification could be brought back to the value it places on effective HR policies.
“By prioritising our employees’ mental and physical wellbeing, we create an environment that supports our employees in all aspects, empowering them to achieve great results because they want to,” UST ANZ managing director Matthew McCormack said.
“Employee experience has always been UST Australia’s focus, and this has served us well in attracting and retaining the very best talent. Professionals today expect employee wellbeing to be a top priority, and this is an area UST Australia has succeeded in.”
According to a statement from UST, employee wellbeing and putting people first are the key focuses of the company. This is achieved through flexibility, an outcomes-rather-than-output approach, and trust.
“A culture is not something that is implemented from the leadership team, but something that is driven by every team member. At UST Australia, we understand how important flexibility is to our team, which is why we implemented a remote working policy before it was the trend,” Mr McCormack continued.
“For me, going into the office is more of a social outing where I have the opportunity to spend time with people who inspire me; but for others, it might be a necessity to find a place of concentration. The point is, we aren’t looking at how much someone is working, but focusing on achieving results,” he added.
Top Employers Institute recognises organisations based on their HR policy, including: people strategy, learning and development, diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), wellbeing, talent acquisition, and overall work environment.
Chief executive at Top Employers Institute, David Plink, discussed the award: “Exceptional times bring out the best in people and organisations. And we have witnessed this in our Top Employers Certification Program this year: exceptional performance from the certified Top Employers 2023.
“These employers have always shown that they care for the development and wellbeing of their people. By doing so, they collectively enrich the world of work. We are proud to announce and celebrate this year’s group of leading people-oriented employers: the Top Employers 2023.”
Top Employers Institute previously discussed UST’s achievements in a 29 September 2020 statement, where UST Global was recognised for its response to the pandemic, planning strategies that promoted employee safety, wellbeing, and engagement.
Michael Adamson, vice-president of global HR operations at UST, said in 2020: “I am very proud of the contributions of our HR teams as we navigated the ever-changing and demanding impact of the pandemic around the globe. We were ready to focus on the productivity or our people, creating policies, sharing information, holding townhalls with our people in order to stay safe, healthy and productive during very challenging times.”
